Effects of fungicides on creeping bentgrass health and rooting characteristics under abiotic stress

چکیده

Positive effects on plant health provided by quinone outside inhibitors (QoI) and other fungicide classes have been previously reported in turfgrass agricultural crops. However, most of the research was conducted under controlled environmental rather than field conditions. Two one greenhouse experiments were repeated southern California from 2011–2013 to test ability selected fungicides retain or improve creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.; CBG) quality rooting characteristics when exposed drought stress induced multiple abiotic stressors, including, heat traffic. Fungicide treatments applied 14-d 28-d intervals prior during implemented periods for a total 2–5 applications consisted azoxystrobin, chlorothalonil + acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM), fluoxastrobin, aluminum tris, penthiopyrad, pyraclostrobin, pyraclostrobin boscalid tested against nontreated control (NTC). No disease symptoms present any trial site, but presence pathogens not determined. Although increased root diameter comparison NTC observed plants treated with azoxystrobin boscalid, volume study, no significant differences found studies. Moreover, none improved turf normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) experiments. Results imply that offer little secondary benefits regard such as alleviation arid environments, pressure is minimal absent.

Spatial and temporal distribution of fungicides applied to creeping bentgrass.

Turf managers often rely on fungicides to limit damage caused by root diseases. Because fungicides are applied to aboveground surfaces and do not move basipetally, they are effective against root pathogens only when fungitoxic concentrations migrate to the rhizosphere. This research focused on the distribution of modern fungicides in verdure, thatch, sand, and roots of creeping bentgrass [ L. v...

Evaluation of Phosphonate Fungicides for Control of Pythium Blight on Creeping Bentgrass and Perennial Ryegrass

Phosphonate fungicides are used by golf course managers to control Pythium diseases, suppress anthracnose basal rot, alleviate summer stress, and improve turf quality. In many areas of the northeast, phosphonate products are applied at regular intervals throughout the summer as part of a fairway and putting green management program. Currently, over a dozen phosphonate fungicides and fertilizers...

SUMMER 2000 6 NYSTA Research Reports A study was conducted to evalu ate golf putting green establish ment procedures with four creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.) cultivars: Penncross, Penn A-4, L93, and SR1119. Five seed rates were used (0.5, 1.0, 2, and 4 lb.) with five seed treatments: metalaxyl (Apron), Pseudomonas aureofaciens, Azospirillum brasilience, Enterobacter cloacae, and ...

Creeping Bentgrass Cultivar Influences Biocontrol

Printed on recycled paper SUMMER 2001 24 A Healthy Ecosystem Inconsistent performance of biological control strategies for turfgrass disease control has limited the adoption of this technology into IPM programs. A major contributing factor to this variable performance in agricultural systems is the cultivar to which biological control organisms are applied. In a recent study, our goal was to de...

Ectopic expression of a cyanobacterial flavodoxin in creeping bentgrass impacts plant development and confers broad abiotic stress tolerance

Flavodoxin (Fld) plays a pivotal role in photosynthetic microorganisms as an alternative electron carrier flavoprotein under adverse environmental conditions. Cyanobacterial Fld has been demonstrated to be able to substitute ferredoxin of higher plants in most electron transfer processes under stressful conditions. We have explored the potential of Fld for use in improving plant stress response...
